Getting started

Your first hour in the city

What to actually do once you have spawned, and the mistakes new arrivals make.

Slow down

The most common mistake new arrivals make is treating the first hour like a game to be beaten. Everyone around you is playing a person. Walk, talk to somebody, and let your character be new to the city — because they are.

Get your bearings

  • Check your phone for your ID, your bank balance, and the apps available to you.
  • Find a legal job to cover your first few days. Honest work is slow, but it is the safest way to learn how the city works without making enemies in your first ten minutes.
  • Learn where the hospital is before you need it.

Talk to people

Almost everything worth doing here starts with a conversation. Ask for directions. Get a lift. Complain about the weather. The players who last are the ones who build relationships, not bank balances.

Things that will get you in trouble immediately

  • Treating strangers as targets. See no random deathmatch.
  • Breaking character to ask how a script works — open a support ticket instead.
  • Assuming a lost fight is a bug. Losing is part of it.

Read the rules properly before your second session. Most first bans are for things the person genuinely did not know.
