Troubleshooting

Voice chat problems

Nobody can hear you, or you cannot hear anyone — start here.

Nobody can hear me

  1. Check Windows permissions. Settings, Privacy and security, Microphone — make sure desktop apps are allowed.
  2. Check the right device is selected. Windows sound settings, Input. If you have several microphones — a headset, a webcam, a capture card — Windows often picks the wrong one.
  3. Check your microphone is not muted in hardware. Headset inline mutes are the single most common cause.
  4. Restart FiveM after changing any audio device. It reads your devices at launch.

I cannot hear anyone

  • Check your output device, the same way.
  • Check you are actually close enough. Voice here is proximity based — you hear people near you, and the further away someone is, the quieter they get.
  • Make sure no other app has taken exclusive control of your audio device.

People say I am very quiet, or very loud

Set your microphone level in Windows sound settings rather than shouting or whispering. Around 80% with any boost turned off is a good starting point.

Still nothing

Open a support ticket with your headset make and model, whether it is USB or 3.5mm, and which of the above you have tried.
