Applying to be staff

What the role actually involves and what we look for.

What the job actually is

Staffing is admin work. It is reading tickets, watching clips, checking logs, and telling people things they do not want to hear — calmly, consistently, and while everyone else is playing. If what appeals to you is the tools, this is not the role you are imagining.

What we look for

  • Time in the city. You need to understand how it plays before you can judge how it should.
  • Availability you can actually sustain. A reliable few hours a week beats an unsustainable promise.
  • Even temperament under pressure. Most tickets arrive from someone who is already angry.
  • A clean record, or an honest account of one that is not.

What weakens an application

  • Applying immediately after arriving.
  • Asking about it repeatedly in tickets or DMs.
  • An application written in five minutes. The scenario question is there to be thought about.

The process

Open a Staff Application. It comes into the same queue as everything else, and you will get the outcome on the ticket. If you are unsuccessful, you can apply again later — say what has changed since.
